THE FERRET SNIFFS OUT ANOTHER WIN . . . . . . . .

Ferret Jeeter completed a productive 48 hours for our team with a clearcut success in the three mile conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle at Plumpton on Monday in the colours of Richard Matthews.

In providing our 41st victory of the season he was given a sound ride by Chad Bament who was able to claim an extra 3lbs because he is attached to our yard at Potwell.

Chad set out to make all the running on Ferret Jeeter who jumped very well bar one slight mistake and found more when challenged to win by four and a quarter lengths.

Horse and jockey are progressing nicely with experience. Ferret Jeeter is straightforward, stays well, handles any ground and clearly enjoyed himself out in front.

We now have to decide whether to keep him over hurdles or switch him to fences. It’s a lovely dilemma to have.

It’s great that our horses remain in top form. Although we didn’t quite manage a winner on Saturday both Leave of Absence and Dance and Glance performed with credit at Newbury, helping to boost our prize money total on the day by £16,000.

Leave of Absence promised briefly to threaten the front two before finishing a respectable third in the Denman Chase while Dance and Glance stuck gamely to his task on his way to fifth place in the William Hill Handicap.
