ANOTHER CRACKER . . . . . . . .

CRACKERJACQUE took our score for the season to forty with a determined success in a £15,000 two mile Novice Hurdle under a 6lbs penalty in deep ground on Saturday.

It feels brilliant to reach that total by the end of January. Our horses continue to run well at a strike rate of 21% with four of our last eight runners in the winner’s enclosure. Hopefully we can keep the run going through the last three months of the campaign.

Crackerjacque is a big, lightly raced classy looker who has already won a bumper and two hurdle races and should make a lovely chaser in due course.

He won his first bumper at Sandown in really testing conditions a year ago and again seemed to relish the heavy going on Saturday as he stayed on grittily up the final hill to beat Ionian by a length and three-quarters.

He is out of a sister to our great old campaigner Sam Brown, was bred by the late Tim Frost whose family have been such big supporters of ours and is owned by his son Will with two friends, Simon & Cleeves.

I will try to find a nice valuable target next for Crackerjacque over two and a half miles and looking forward it’s encouraging that he has already done plenty of schooling over fences.
