WITHIN A WHISKER! FERRET JEETER TEARS CLEAR AT FONTWELL . . . . . . . .

Ferret Jeeter took us to within a whisker of our first half century of winners with a decisive victory in a long distance handicap hurdle at Fontwell on Wednesday ridden by our enthusiastic 7 lbs claiming conditional Chad Bament,

He has been a great money spinner this season for his owner Richard Matthews, led throughout and galloped on relentlessly to beat his nearest rival by twelve lengths.

Ferret Jeeter has proved to be versatile and consistent and having won over fences last time he looked ideal for a return to hurdles when this race popped up on my radar.

It’s fair to say he wasn’t respecting his hurdles much at Fontwell which is a sign that we should be concentrating his mind on fences next season.

He has more than earned a decent summer’s break now, having provided five of our forty nine winners this season.

I’m so pleased that Ferret Jeeter has rewarded his owner’s patience over the last twelve months after a frustrating period when he was held back by one or two issues.
