TOUCH OF MAGIC . . . . .

Blackjack Magic delivered our first winner of the New Year with a fluent round of jumping in a £18,000 Limited Novice Handicap Chase Exeter on Tuesday.

He won twice over hurdles last winter in testing conditions when trained by Jack Barber and joined us when he handed in his licence.

It wasn’t the plan to make the running with Blackjack Magic on his second start over fences but he took quite a keen hold, was in front by the third fence, and jumped soundly throughout on the way to a pleasing victory off a mark of 125.

He is going the right way and can hopefully again be competitive on winter ground after the handicapper has had his say.

We have been a little quiet over the past month as some of our horses have not quite been firing on all cylinders. We’ve kept things simple, have run various checks and though one swallow doesn’t make a summer Blackjack Magic stayed on strongly all the way to the line at Exeter until he was eased close home by Aidan Coleman.
The signs are certainly positive at home. We believe our team is quietly moving back into form and we will be running quite a few horses next week starting at Hereford on Monday while Sam Brown, Regal Encore and Credo could all be in action the following weekend.
