LOVELY PLAN AT SOUTHWELL . . . . . .

FORWARD PLAN gained his second success from three starts over fences this season with a cosy victory in a 0-115 handicap at Southwell on Sunday in the colours of the Steeplechasers.

He was heading in the right direction last season and is proving quietly progressive on a nice gradual upward curve.

Ground, trip and the flat track at Southwell were all in the favour of Forward Plan who travelled with a bit more zest than usual which made life a shade easier for his jockey Ben Godfrey.

His jumping was good for a novice bar one bad mistake, and not for the first time he didn’t do too much once he hit the front three fences from home.

The way he was pricking his ears in the closing stages I’d like to think he would have found more if necessary.

I’ll look for a similar race for him in a few week’s time.
