Experience gained on his debut in April proved crucial as DUHALLOW STORM gained his first success with a determined late run in a competitive bumper at Newton Abbot on Saturday in the colours of Richard and Carol Cheshire.
He had a couple of niggly little issues last season but I’ve always liked him and he showed a great attitude to see off the favourite Havanotherguinness in a tight finish.
There should be more to come from Duhallow Storm as I felt he was a couple of weeks off full race trim. He schools well at home and will next be seen in a maiden hurdle.
He is out of Duhallow Gesture, a mare I trained to win five races, so I was pleased to buy him for Richard and Carol at the Goffs store sale in Ireland in June 2025.
Duhallow Storm was also awarded Best Turned Out, helping us maintain our lead in the race for the £5,000 prize offered by Newton Abbot to the yard that collects the most Best Turned Out awards during the 2026 season.
Kirstie Mayes, our travelling head lass, marked my card about this scheme a while ago and with one more meeting to go at the Devon course it is fair to say our team at home are fully motivated to win it.
