SAM BROWN’S TBA AWARD . . . . . .

Tim Frost’s relentless pursuit of equine excellence was deservedly honoured at the TBA’s annual NH Breeders’ Awards dinner on Monday night in Doncaster.

The choice of Tims’s homebred ten year old Sam Brown for the Shade Oak Stud trophy for leading chaser in 2021-2022 was warmly received.
No wonder. He has progressed each season and now has a handicap mark of 157 after a fluent success by fifteen lengths in the valuable Aintree Handicap Chase in April.

Two months earlier he only just lost out in a sustained duel with Royale Pagaille in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock.

Tim Frost bred Sam Brown from his mare Cream Cracker, a tough and consistent campaigner who won four times from 36 starts. She was a homebred too – out of Cream By Post, a mare that he bought at Doncaster Sales back in 1987. The Frost family continue to breed, with Sam Brown’s full sister in foal to Vadamos, and another sister having produced a filly foal by Order of St George on the day of his Aintree win.

He was represented at the dinner by his daughter Lucy Blackburn, son-in-law Jeremy, and his grand-daughter Emma, along with Anthony and Rachael Honeyball who have trained Sam Brown with a rare sureness of touch.
