NO GREEK TRAGEDY AT FONTWELL, AS TROJAN HORSE ROMPS HOME

TROJAN HORSE gained his first success for our team with a fluent victory in the £10,000 Caz & Tim Cobbold 60th Birthday Juvenile Hurdle at Fontwell on Sunday, under Rex Dingle. Helen, who looks after him at home had him looking a picture, winning the Best Turned Out award too.
He was sent to us in the summer by Ron Huggins who then sold a half share to Peter Jones.
You can see why Ron bought Trojan Horse as a yearling as he has similar striking markings to his great stayer Double Trigger who won the Goodwood Cup three times.
Trojan Horse wasn’t in the same league on the flat as Double Trigger, but he won a couple of times trained by Mark Johnston and reached a mark of 84.
He was a bit gassy on his debut over hurdles at Kempton almost a month ago but still ran with some promise in finishing third.
On Sunday  he showed the benefit of that outing, travelled well, just off the pace, jumped slickly and was already in command at the final flight before galloping on strongly to best Aviles by ten lengths.
It was a nice, professional performance by Trojan Horse whose dam was a full sister to the top stallion Getaway. He is very much going the right way, has a good attitude and with a bit of luck could hopefully develop into a candidate for the Boodles Juvenile Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

It was good to see two of our nice crop of bumper horses run with promise at Cheltenham over the weekend.
On Saturday FORTUNA LIGNA defied her odds of 40-1 with a fine run into third place in the Mares’ Listed bumper. She was quite green when second on her return at Fontwell, and stepped up considerably on that.
On Sunday CAPE VIDAL showed signs of inexperience at times in the Listed Bumper but kept on resolutely to take third place behind a smart winner.
