NEW KING ON THE BLOCK . . . . . .

KILBEG KING left quite an impression with a stylish winning debut over hurdles in testing ground at Ffos Las on Sunday ridden by Aidan Coleman.

A gorgeous looking type by Doyen he was returning from an absence of 596 days after suffering a tendon problem last year.

Although he had done plenty of work he still looked on the burly side going round the parade ring at Ffos Las and was carrying a little bit of extra weight.

So I was delighted to see him land the Go Racing With vickers.bet Maiden Hurdle  over two and a half miles with a fair bit in hand.

He travelled well, jumping soundly, and briefly hit a flat spot two out before easing to the front, galloping on relentlessly to seal the victory by four and three quarter lengths from Howaya Now.

I have high hopes for Kilbeg King who is very willing and is bound to improve a lot for the run.

I’ll be giving him plenty of time before running him next in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury on New Year’s Eve. We know he goes on deep ground and the form of his bumper success for us has worked out extremely well with the horses that followed him home now rated 125, 119, and 132.

So I’m looking forward to running him in a high class race to see where we stand with him. He stays well, has a decent cruising speed and I can’t wait to see him over fences next season.
