HOMEBRED WINS FOR MRS HONEYBALL. . . . . . . . .

NOCTURNAL MYTH provided our fifth win in the past 48 hours with a gutsy success at Fontwell on Monday on his first start for nineteen months.

A gorgeous looking horse, he was bred by my wife Rachael from Gan On who won over hurdles and fences for us and ended up with a rating of 134. But until now niggling little issues have prevented Nocturnal Myth delivering on the promise he has always shown us at home.

So it was really nice to see him finally get off the mark on Monday ridden by Rex Dingle in a modest two and a half mile handicap hurdle by a short head . The pair faced a strong challenge from Corrie Lake on the run in, and stayed on well.

Nocturnal Myth chose a good day to break his duck as the prize money he earned took the yard’s winnings for the season past £100,000.

Given his past problems I’m delighted for his owners – The Nightshifters partnership, and I’m not in a rush to turn him out again quickly. I’ll give him time to get over the race before looking for a similar handicap.

We have a couple of quiet days now, then with possible runners on Friday at Fontwell and Warwick.
