Serious Charges completed a stylish hat-trick at Uttoxeter on Saturday in the colours of the Potwell Racing Syndicate III.
He has progressed nicely this season, gained his first success at Exeter in January, won again at Fontwell six weeks ago and readily saw off a decent field to complete the treble in the £15,000 Optimum Handicap Hurdle .
It was a lovely performance from a horse I bought for £85,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham sale last April which was held in Newmarket because of the pandemic.
I felt that the step up in trip to three miles would suit Serious Charges who has a bit of quality and class and should make a decent chaser next season.
If he runs again this season it is likely to be in a three mile handicap at Aintree or Punchestown.
With Gustavian earning almost £10,000 in prize money for finishing second in the novice handicap Chase at Uttoxeter and our hardy old warrior Jepeck in the money again in the staying handicap hurdle it was another rewarding day for the yard.
