ON POINT IN THE END . . . . . . . . .

It was good to see GORE POINT gain a pleasing first success over fences at Stratford on Monday in the colours of Mark Pendarves.

He’s a horse who is quietly building a nice CV having won his bumper, twice over hurdles and now added his first steeplechase.

He used to be very keen and is still a bit immature but he is quietly getting there and had clearly come on for his first start for eight months at Fontwell early this month.

Gore Point’s jumping was good and tidy at Stratford and he looked to have every chance as he rose at the final fence perhaps half a length behind the favourite A Little Something.

Our horse landed running while A Little Something made a mistake and unseated his jockey.

Gore Point then strolled home to win by twenty lengths and could well run again at Newton Abbot on Friday if he comes out of the race in good order.
