A return trip to Carlisle on Monday for LILITH paid off handsomely as she landed the valuable Mares’ Handicap Chase for the second year running in the colours of Decimus Racing V1.
We decided to lay her out for that race after there were plenty of positives to be taken from her last start at Newbury.
This year’s field didn’t look as strong as last year’s which was subsequent nicely franked by most of the field.
In addition Lilith has slipped down to a mark where she could be competitive and she has always jumped particularly well for Rex Dingle.
She was firmly on top at the end and is a hardy, likeable, very willing mare mare who puts it all out there every time and I will always be grateful for her superb success at Punchestown two years ago.
As she is a maiden over hurdles I’m toying with the idea of running Lilith next in a Listed Mares’ Novice Hurdle at Doncaster on March 2.
