WALK THIS WAY . . . . . . .

We headed home from Plumpton late on Tuesday with a winner and three seconds and will be returning to the Sussex track for more on Thursday.

Hard Stare ran a race of much promise in finishing runner up on his debut over fences before Bailly’s Comet filled the same position in the maiden hurdle. Hopefully he will be winning soon.

Then it was the turn of Walk In The West and Kapability in the two and a half mile handicap Chase with the pair dominating the race going to the final fence before Walk In The West pulled clear in the closing stages.

Both horses had a bit to prove after some patchy moments last season but they travelled and jumped well and it was lovely to see them way ahead of the opposition.

Walk In The West has some way to go to match the record of his dam Westerner Lady who won ten times from seventeen starts but he has been of a bit of a slow burner and this was a welcome first success for the yard.

Now that he has got his head in front I’d like to think he can start to progress

Kapability did very well too on her first start over fences and this run was an encouraging step in the right direction towards the form she showed when winning her bumper on debut at Aintree two years ago.
