POTWELL’S CHARGER GETS SERIOUS AT FONTWELL . . . . . .

SERIOUS CHARGES continued his education with a second success in twenty days in the colours of the Potwell Racing Syndicate III at Fontwell on Monday.

He is progressing nicely, has a great attitude and made all the running under a penalty on his way to a tidy victory in the £10,000 Virgin Bet Free Bets For Winners Novices’ Hurdle, under Rex Dingle.

Serious Charges always looked like starting a short-priced favourite, jumped soundly in the main and looks the type who should continue to develop particularly when he goes over fences.

That is unlikely to happen until towards the end of this year but I’ll see what handicap mark he is given before deciding whether to run him once more this season.

He was our 25th winner of the season and our consistent mare LILITH then earned £3,010 for her owners by finishing second under top weight in the long distance handicap Chase. Although she couldn’t lay a glove on the well handicapped Poniente her turn will surely come soon.
