I don’t have too many runners in the summer so it was nice surprise to find myself sitting top of the Racing Post list of hot trainers on Monday morning with three winners from our last five runners at a strike of 60%.
That percentage looked even better a few hours later at Newton Abbot after GORE POINT completed a hat-trick over fences in fifteen days in the colours of Mark Pendarves.
We’ve kept him ticking over since his previous victory at the track at the same track on July 3rd and he again won tidily on Monday off a new handicap mark of 109.
Gore Point is obviously progressing well but there was a time when he was far from straightforward.
It has taken us ages to be able to ride him in a race as we wanted and it’s lovely to see Mark’s patience being rewarded.
Phase one of the season is now over for Gore Point. He has earned a break now and we will look to see where he might go in August, preferably in a race with a nice big pot in which he can carry a light weight.
