FANFARON DINO bounced back to form with a pleasing success over hurdles at Fontwell on Wednesday in the colours of JP McManus.
We have taken our time with him since he finished distressed after a disappointing first run over fences at Lingfield. When we ran some tests afterwards we discovered his heart was jumping around a little bit.
Rest was considered the best cure for Fanfaron Dino combined with some anti – inflammatory injections to aid his recovery.
After a break of 91 days I felt he was ready to run again at Fontwell in a low key handicap and he came through with flying colours with the help of a confident ride from Richie McLernon who soon got him into a lovely rhythm well off the pace. Credit also to Megan Giles who rides him everyday.
They made stylish progress at the second last, led just after the final flight and kept on stoutly to win by two and three quarter lengths from Moromac. He saw it out well and was strong at the line.
Fanfaron Dino has some way to go to match the exploits of his half sister Epatante. But now that he is back on track I’d like to think that he can progress further.
