FANFARON DINO bounced back from a short break with a decisive victory in a two mile handicap hurdle at Worcester on Thursday in the colours of JP McManus.
I was very happy to see the rain ease ground conditions because he has always travelled and jumped well on soft going.
Richie McLernon gave Fanfaron Dino a lovely, patient ride, stalking the field for much of the race until they moved up to join the leaders two out before easing clear on the flat and coming home strongly to beat the favourite Alioski by five lengths.
The drop back to the minimum trip was helpful for a horse who has been on the go for almost twelve months and ran a bit below par on his previous outing at Fontwell. On Thursday he was gaining his fourth triumph off his highest handicap mark so far of 107.
Given that we don’t have many runners over the summer we are in the nice position of having had ten winners in the new season with prize money of over £60,000.
