It was great to see CAPTAIN CLAUDE winning again under Ben Godfrey on Boxing Day, in the Handicap Chase at Fontwell. He’s now 2 wins from 2 runs over fences this season – unbeaten since making the switch. He won well last time out, also at Fontwell. This time we stepped him up in trip to 3 mile 2f, from his last run at 2 mile 4f.
The further he went yesterday the better he seemed to go. Very pleased with such a strong performance.
Delighted that he has won in a bumper, over hurdles and now victorious in his chasing career
It is brilliant to see that he is still progressing and should still have lots of improvement to come. We can hopefully make the most of his handicap and win more races going forward. He handles this winter soft ground really well, so plenty of options still ahead of us this season with him.
Over at Kempton, KILBEG KING, stepped up to grade one company and ran a really strong race to come 3rd in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase under Sam Twiston-Davies.
We’re over the moon with him, it was a solid run and he was very much in the mix turning in to the home straight. The horses in 1st and 2nd we know are very good horses, but he held his own. Likely to target a big handicap chase next time out with him – it’s exciting to have got him to this level. He needed his first two runs to get him to full fitness and we now have him where we hoped we’d get him.
