ANOTHER DOYEN CASH’S IN . . . . . .

DOYEN FOR MONEY provided our 39th winner of the season with a pleasing success in an extended two and a half mile Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton on Sunday in the colours of Howard Kingston.

CAPTAIN CLAUDE then came close to giving us a double later in the afternoon until he lost momentum at a vital time when he stumbled between the last two flights.

Howard has had to be patient with DOYEN FOR MONEY, an easy winner of his only point-to-point in Ireland. He has been quite buzzy since joining us, not entirely straightforward and didn’t really settle in his first two starts over hurdles.

So we changed a few things, tried a different bit in his mouth and applied a tongue tie for the first time to help keep him calm on the step up in trip to two and a half miles.

He certainly travelled much better at Plumpton, and gave himself every chance by settling nicely in the rear before Aidan Coleman began to move him steadily into contention.

A faller at the third last briefly hampered his progress before he came through to win snugly by half a length.

It was good to see Doyen For Money fulfill the promise of his point-to-point victory and I’m hopeful that there will be more to come from him as he matures.
