Juggernaut’s success in a handicap hurdle at Stratford on Thursday was a notable triumph for his rider Chad Bament who was gaining his first success under rules from a handful of chances.
Chad claims a handy 10lbs and has earned his chance as a conditional jockey after riding nine Point-to-Point winners.
He works hard in the yard and had a bit of a baptism of fire on Juggernaut with Zhang Fei poaching a big lead entering the last half mile.
Chad kept his cool, got his mount into a good rhythm and brought him through with a well timed run which took them into the lead at the final flight on their way to a seven length victory.
Juggernaut runs in the colours of my racing club and is an ideal ride for an inexperienced claimer because he is a straightforward ride and has been running well this season without winning.
He was our 19th winner of the season at a strike rate of 21% and is developing into a handy horse. Now that we know he handles plenty of ease in the ground it gives us more options for him in the future.
There are still a few spaces remaining to join our small racing club, just £120 per month with 3 horses currently in training for the club – do get in touch for more info.
Many congratulations to the team and especially to Chad on his first winner under Rules.
