Cape Vidal completed a rewarding two days for the team at Fontwell with an impressive first victory over hurdles in the colours of Potwell Racing Syndicate III which is run by two of our loyal supporters Martyn Chapman and Gill Langford.
It followed the success at the same track 24 hours earlier of Brookie on his first start for us.
Both were ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies who will be getting more opportunities for the yard when he is available.
Cape Vidal won a bumper on his racecourse debut for us last season before finishing third in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham.
He then lost his way a little bit in mid winter along with a few more of ours at the time before returning to form with a solid run into second place on his hurdles debut at Plumpton in April behind a well backed favourite.
He is a strong sort and I was really pleased with his jumping at Fontwell where he was always prominent, led at halfway and kept on resolutely to see off the persistent challenge of Baltry by a length.
As Cape Vidal appreciates good ground it was nice to have him out earlier than most of ours and he will improve for fitness.
I’d imagine he will running again in four or five weeks, quite possibly in a handicap if he gets a suitable mark.
Given the fluent way Cape Vidal jumped at Fontwell I’d like to think he will make a chaser in due course.
Fab result today great to see the boys celebrating Good Look Charm’s win congrats too with Black Jack Magic????
