With a winner and three seconds we enjoyed another rewarding afternoon on Saturday.
I was delighted with the success of SALADINS SON in the novice handicap Chase at Wincanton.
It was his second win since he was sent to us by Richard and Carol Cheshire this season.
The only blip came on his debut over fences at Ffos Las when he couldn’t handle the really testing conditions and was eventually pulled up.
He jumped very well for Ben Godfrey on Saturday, took command half a mile from home and galloped on strongly without being seriously challenged.
Saladin’s Son looks a nice promising chaser going forward and I’ll try to find another similar race for him in three or four weeks time.
The Cheshire’s also own Leave of Absence who collected £17,360 for finishing a respectable second in the Reynoldstown Chase at Ascot.
He was off the track for 758 days before an encouraging return at Kempton in November and gained some more valuable experience over the Ascot fences which take a bit of jumping.
He’s a quality horse to have going forward.
Crest of Fortune also filled the runner up spot at Ascot in the two mile, three furlong novice hurdle at Ascot and Briefly concluded a busy day for our team with a narrow defeat in the concluding handicap hurdle at Wincanton.
