An across the card double on Easter Monday took our score to 48 with less than a week to the end of the season.
Sea Invasion was the first to win at Plumpton in a class 4 handicap Chase over three and a quarter miles.
While he’d shown bits and pieces of form over fences over the last few months he wasn’t always helping his jockeys so I felt it was worth trying blinkers and a tongue tie to find some improvement
The step up in trip also helped his cause as he stayed on strongly after leading going to the last fence.
Sea Invasion was among the seven horses sent to us in the summer by Richard and Carol Cheshire.
He was placed in his bumper on rules debut for Chris Gordon and ended last season with a successful handicap debut over hurdles at Plumpton.
Now that he has broken the ice over fences I’ll look for a similar race for him in a month’s time.
Limerick Lass then completed a rewarding day for our team with an all the way victory in the closing bumper at Chepstow in the colours of The Afillyeights.
A quality mare by Soldier of Fortune she is a half-sister to two winners including Allart who landed a Grade 2 Chase in Ireland and was rated 152.
She was all ready to run last season until a last-minute setback but is now starting to make up for lost time.
I was pleased with her racecourse debut at Exeter in January and she had clearly learned plenty from that experience and though she was a little bit green in front she bossed the race at Chepstow under a confident ride from Ben Godfrey.
Tough and progressive Limerick Lass has already schooled very well over hurdles and could even run in a maiden hurdle in May if the ground is suitable.
