A STAR ON THE RISE AT TAUNTON . . . . . . .

CREST OF STARS made all the running on his way to a decisive success on his second start over hurdles at Taunton on Thursday in the colours of Crest Racing X who are big supporters of our yard.

He took our score for the season to 33 at a strike rate of 20% with a prize money total of £525,000.

Crest of Stars jumping let him down on his debut over hurdles at Plumpton but it was much better at Taunton, though he was still a bit high and careful at a couple of flights.

On Thursday Sam Twiston-Davies got him into a lovely rhythm out in front in a two mile maiden hurdle on his way to a highly pleasing victory by seven and a half lengths from Explode.

Crest of Stars is a horse we’ve always liked. He is beautifully bred and the experience will have done him the world of good.

He is still learning his trade and is a nice prospect going forward. I imagine he will run next in a novice hurdle under a penalty and in time I’m hopeful he can develop into a useful chaser.
