The decisive success of Dreaming Blue at Fontwell on Friday took our score to a new personal best for the season of 41 winners.
It was also a red letter day for his jockey Ben Godfrey who has now ridden out his claim. Ben works very hard, is good in the yard and loyal to us, so it is nice to repay him with some decent winners this season.
Dreaming Blue is an unlikely type to be doing well over fences as he is by Showcasing who has produced a string of speedy horses on the flat over the years.
Yet he was keeping on stoutly in the colours of Roger Devlin after two and three quarter miles on Friday and readily drew clear in the closing stages on his way to victory by ten lengths.
You would think Dreaming Blue’s habit of jumping to the right would be a negative at a figure of eight course like Fontwell.
But he has now won three times at the track including his last two races. I think it is more a case of having the necessary pace to put his rivals under pressure.
He is versatile, consistent and I’d say his latest triumph was one of his best performances.
Although Dreaming Blue has had quite a busy campaign it’s possible he might run once more in two or three week’s time before a summer at grass.
Well done Anthony. Congratulations to you and your team. ???
A fantastic season you have had cuz xx
Congratulations to the Honeyball team and to Ben on riding out his claim
