Jordans Cross delivered our 26th NH winner of the season with a pleasing victory on his debut over hurdles at Southwell on Tuesday in the colours of the Steeple Chasers.
An athletic, good moving type he was beaten narrowly on his first start for us in a bumper at Chepstow a month ago which gave us plenty of encouragement for the future.
Jordans Cross travelled nicely for Ben Godfrey at Southwell behind the leader, was left in front on the final bend, jumped the last well and found more when pressed on the run-in to gain the verdict by half a length.
It was a lovely introduction to hurdles by a horse who jumped safely and is sure to sharpen up for the experience.
We bought him at the Goffs Aintree sale in April from Micky Geoff who was the vendor when we bought Forward Plan a few years ago.
Jordans Cross won his only Point-to-Point in Ireland in March and like Forward Plan should progress with racing.
