ROYAL RESULTS! PARK PRINCESS AND LORD BADDESLEY CROWN A WINNING DAY . . . . . .

Our horses continue in very good form with a double on Thursday taking our score to twenty for the season with £226,000 in prize money which lifted us to tenth in the trainers’ table.

First to greet the judge was PARK PRINCESS on her first start for 574 days in a mares’ maiden hurdle over two miles, five furlongs at Ludlow in the colours of Peter Jones and Diana Goodall.

LORD BADDESLEY then completed a rewarding afternoon for our team with a decisive victory in the silks of Richard and Carol Cheshire in a handicap chase over two and a half miles at Newbury.

We had a frustrating campaign with him last winter but he looked a picture walking round the paddock and showed the benefit of a summer vacation wind op with a striking performance that saw him win by eighteen lengths.

He travelled and jumped, looked to be in a really good rhythm, clearly enjoyed himself out in front and has now won over £100,000 in prize money.

While Lord Baddesley has an entry at Wincanton on Saturday that rather depends how he is in the morning and I’d say he is more likely to wait for a veteran’s Chase at Cheltenham on Friday under a penalty.

In comparison Park Princess is still in the early stages of her career. She looked smart when winning on her bumper debut at Newbury before our plans for her last season were wiped out by injury.

She was almost ready to run in April before we pulled stumps when the ground dried up. But her schooling was slick and she has done plenty since she came back into training in June.

I thought Park Princess was very professional at Ludlow where she was always in the front  pair, jumping for fun, before taking a clear lead turning for home and keeping on strongly to hold the challenge of Mighty Fleur.

A fast track like Ludlow probably doesn’t play to her strengths and we will now raise our sights and aim her at a £45,000 Listed mares’ novice hurdle at Haydock before Christmas.
