As we fly through September, the National Hunt season suddenly feels just around the corner, and there’s a real sense of excitement building at Potwell as the horses step up their work ahead of the months to come.
Last weekend we welcomed owners and supporters to Potwell for our annual Owners’ Day, which is always one of the highlights of our year. It was fantastic to see so many people here and to have the opportunity to parade the horses, catch up with familiar faces and welcome plenty of new ones too.
The day is our chance to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports the yard and the horses throughout the season. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a great group of owners behind us, and we hope everyone who joined us enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did.
A huge thank you must also go to the whole team, who worked incredibly hard in the build-up and throughout the day to make sure the horses and yard looked their very best.

Our Owners’ Day also means it’s time for the return of our 5-2-Follow competition!
Entries are now open and open to all, giving you the chance to pick five horses from the yard to follow throughout the season and see how many points they can collect.
It’s always great fun and, importantly, raises vital funds for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. Last year’s winner took home £366, so make sure you get your selections in!

There are various ownership options available, including 1/8th, 1/10th and 1/12th shares, so there is something to suit a range of budgets.
We also have limited spaces available in the Anthony Honeyball Racing Club, which is just £90 per month and offers an affordable way to enjoy the excitement of being involved with the yard and following our Racing Club horses throughout the season.
There’s a real buzz of anticipation in the yard as we head into the new season, particularly after our best season yet. With an exciting team of established horses and younger recruits coming through, we can’t wait to see what the months ahead have in store.
