CREST OF STARS took our score to 52 for the season with a pleasing victory under a penalty in a novice hurdle at Taunton on Wednesday evening in the colours of Crest Racing X.
He jumps brilliantly at home but was again a bit big and cautious at some of his hurdles through the race on his way to beating the odds on favourite Kilnew Supreme
He was given a good ride by Chad Bament, who has been tremendous value for his 7 lb claim this season and fittingly rode it out with this winner.
I’m hopeful that the handicapper doesn’t put up Crest of Stars too much for winning a fairly low key novice hurdle and will look for a little handicap hurdle for him in May.
I have a feeling that he might enjoy chasing way more next season and we might well give him a school over fences before he goes on his summer holidays.
We are into the final week of a highly rewarding season and are likely to have only one more runner Brookie in the Celebration Chase at Sandown on Saturday.
