FOUNTAINS BLENHEIN won at the first time of asking over hurdles at Fontwell on Thursday with a dominant victory from the front in the hands of Rex Dingle.
While his task was eased by the departure of the two market leaders in a melee at the first hurdle I felt he would have taken a fair bit of beating if they had stood up.
Fountains Blenhein prevailed in fine style, jumping soundly, with a decent engine and drew right away in the closing stages for an impressive success in the colours of the Fountains Partnership; who also bred him.
Out of the fantastic race mare Fountains Crumble, he is a full-brother to three winners including the 157 rated Fountains Windfall who had a peak rating of 157.
Fountains Blenhein is progressing quicker than him, has an exciting future and at this stage the plan is likely to be one more run with the dream of then heading for the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury.
He showed plenty when winning his bumper at Fontwell in the spring before pulling way too hard and boiling over at Aintree in April.
While he was still quite keen on Thursday it was encouraging that he settled better with hurdles in front of him.
