A double at Plumpton on Sunday took our score for the new season to four.
It came hot on the heels of another double at Fontwell on Wednesday.
We enjoy our regular trips to both tracks and had plenty to celebrate on Sunday after Sea Invasion and Queen’s Theatre won the final two races on the card.
Rex Dingle certainly earned his fee on both horses!
Riding Sea Invasion in a Class 4 handicap Chase over three and a quarter miles he managed to hang onto the coat tails of the leader Smugglers Haven who set a searching pace.
Sea Invasion, owned by Richard and Carol Cheshire, is quite a relaxed type who stays very well and was produced by Rex with a timely run that took him the front a few strides after the final fence on the way to a cosy victory.
Having won on his last two starts he will have a holiday now and could well be aimed at long distance races towards the end of the year.
Queen’s Theatre then completed another rewarding day for our team with a hard-earned success in the bumper in the colours of the No Actors Here syndicate.
She showed plenty of promise when third on her racecourse debut at Stratford in October but then had a little issue which required rest and six weeks on the horse walker.
She looked to be up against it at half-way, where she was outpaced and ran a little green. Winning didn’t look likely at that stage but Rex kept persevering and Queen’s Theatre stayed on strongly from the home turn, caught the leader inside the final furlong and was well on top at the line.
She earned an extra £5,000 under the GBB scheme, will be turned out to grass now and will be going over hurdles once she returns after her break.
Stamina looks to be here forte for the future.
It was such an exciting end to the day, the loose horse adding amusement. Can’t wait to go hurdling. Brilliant training and riding a well deserved double .
Loved the way she stuck in there! Showed how genuine she is, a game mare indeed. Can’t wait to see how her jumping career goes this autumn.
