Dreaming Blue gained his third victory from his last four races over fences with a fluent success in an £18,000 handicap Chase off a career high mark at Ludlow on Wednesday in the colours of Roger Devlin.
An uncomplicated, sound and reliably consistent performer he jumped well in the main for Rex Dingle, enjoyed a nice, uncontested lead, and found more when challenged by the favourite Frenchy Du Large turning for home.
The pair had the race between them over the last half mile and it was good to see Dreaming Blue come out on top by one and a quarter lengths.
The plan was to run at Ludlow ahead of a tilt at a £50,000 0-135 handicap Chase at Kempton on December 27 and we will keep him ticking over until then.
The same afternoon Crest of Fortune finished a respectable second to Royal Infantry in a £15,000 novice hurdle.
He missed the third last and second last before keeping on willingly and passed the post with his ears pricked.
Crest of Fortune is only four and I’ll give him a little time before he runs again.
