THIS KING CONTINUES HIS REIGN . . . . . . . . .

JUMEIRAH KING doubled his score for the season with a comfortable success under a penalty in a novice hurdle at Worcester on Thursday evening in the colours of the King’s Eight.

He is handy horse for this time of year and is going the right way. He clearly enjoys jumping the brush hurdles at Worcester where he won his maiden late in June.

In between he was third in a £19,000 race at Newton Abbot where things didn’t quite go his way when he was left in front sooner than ideal.

We didn’t really want to make the running on Thursday but Sam Twiston-Davies sensibly chose to go on when it was clear there was no competition for the lead.

The pace they set was only modest and once the race began in earnest Jumeirah King quickened up smartly, stretched clear and won nicely.

He did have an entry at Stratford on Sunday but will not be going there. Instead he will have a little break now after three quick runs.

Then we will look for another handicap or maybe another novice hurdle under a double penalty.

We also have the option of running him on the flat given that he is rated 77, seems to be improving and is still a maiden.
