WELL DONE TO EMZARA . . . . .

EMZARA fulfilled the promise of her debut at Aintree last October with an impressive success in the At The Races App Form Study Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race at Fontwell on Sunday.

It hasn’t been plain sailing as she suffered a stress fracture shortly afterward her run at Aintree and we also gave her a wind op as we felt it would help her breathing.

She has been pleasing at home recently and it was so good to see her repay the patience of her owners at Fontwell. (watch the winning moment here)

Aidan Coleman rode a lovely race on Sunday, sitting handy on Emzara in a nice pocket in third place down the inside before they eased into second place five out. Once Aidan let her roll over two furlongs out she quickly led and then stretched clear to win easily by fourteen lengths from Sam’s Amour.

It was a highly professional performance from a mare who I’d like to think can continue to make up for lost time.

She is a sister to two winners including the talented but ill fated Here Comes Johny who won three of his six races, reached a peak rating of 132 and would surely have gone on to better things.

Now that Emzara has won a bumper in style I will look for a Mares’s maiden hurdle for her in four or five weeks. She has always jumped well at home and seemed to enjoy the ground at Fontwell.

We’ve now had five winners over the summer and can hopefully add a few more before the middle of October which is when we usually start to get much busier.

  1. Just been on your openday for national racehorse house week. Fantastic. Information overload so interesting and unprecidented access to the yard and horses. I hope it wasn’t abused although some people dont seem to be able to understand dont touch the horses! Ysrd staff so friendly even though they were busy. Best yard visit i have been on. Thankyou all so much for a great morning.
