DINGLE SEES THE DOCTOR BACK IN THE WINNERS ENCLOSURE . . . . . . . .

DOCTOR FOLEY recorded his third success over fences with a tight finish in a Class 5 handicap Chase over three and a quarter miles at Fontwell on Sunday ridden by Rex Dingle.

He moved up stylishly approaching the final bend but was then under pressure with work to do going to the last fence where one danger He’llstopatthetop fell and another Prince Cleni jumped right-handed.

This opened the door for Doctor Foley on the favoured far rail and with his tail whirring like a windmill he found just enough to hold the renewed challenge of Prince Cleni by a neck.

We were due a change of luck as we’ve had plenty of placed horses recently including Fortuna Ligna who was second at Cartmel on Saturday and two more who also finished runner up on Sunday.

Doctor Foley made harder work of winning than I expected. He doesn’t have a lot of like mileage on the clock and prefers quicker ground so the plan is to keep him going over the summer.

Given the narrow margin of victory the handicapper shouldn’t react too harshly.
