A WELSH DOUBLE TO END A BUSY MAY . . . . . . . .

A double at Ffos Las on Thursday took our score for the new season to six.

First to strike was DOUBLE DRAGON in the colours of Ron Huggins made famous by his marvellous stayer Double Trigger.

Double Dragon is lightly raced out of a mare who won three times and he’d shown a bit of promise on a couple of occasions before breaking his duck in a two mile maiden hurdle ridden by Ben Godfrey.

He jumped well, was nicely on top in the closing stages of the 2m Maiden Hurdle and will probably have a holiday now before going handicapping on his return.

JASMIN DE GRUGY then completed an excellent afternoon for the team by completing a hat-trick of wins over hurdles in the colours of JPMcManus.

He has been well ridden each time by Richie McLernon and is progressing impressively as he gains experience.

He started his winning sequence at Ffos Las early this month off a mark of 81, readily defied his new handicap mark of 101 on Thursday in the 2m4f handicap hurdle and is bound to be raised again after beating Keppage comfortably by two and three quarter lengths.

His jumping is much improved, he’s learning all the time and has the size and scope to be decent over fences in due course.
