THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT . . . . . . . . .

MIDNIGHT CALLISTO gained her second success of the campaign with a fluent victory from the front in the Class 4 Happy 90th Birthday John Barnett Mares’ Handicap Hurdle at Stratford on Sunday in the colours of our long time supporter Gill Langford.

Rex Dingle sensibly kept things simple as he took her into the lead at the fourth flight. They were clear at the final hurdle and kept on strongly to win unchallenged by seven lengths.

Midnight Callisto has been pretty consistent this season at her level, always works well at home, usually finishes in the frame, enjoys better ground and was recording our 35th triumph of the season.

She is a beautifully bred, clean winded mare, a stunning good looker and is out of a sister to last year’s Gold Cup winner Minella Indo.

We might try to win another little race over hurdles with her next month and have already schooled her over fences so that is an option for the future.
