OFF TO A WINNING START . . . . . . . .

It was good to get off the mark for the new season at FFos Las on Tuesday with the pleasing success of JASMIN DE GRUGY in a two and a half mile handicap hurdle in the colours of JP McManus.

He was a bit all over the place when we started with him but is coming together now and progressing nicely with racing.

It was a bit frustrating to see him raised 8lbs after pulling twenty lengths clear of the pack last time at Warwick when beaten half a length by Plaisir Des Flos in his first handicap late in March.

He is learning all the time, was very smooth over his hurdles at Ffos Las and was given a lovely, patient ride by Richie McLernon.

I’m not in a rush to run Jasmin De Grugy again quickly though he could take in another handicap at the end of May.

I’d like to think he has the size and scope to do well over fences in due course.
