I was delighted to see OAKLEYS WAY come good with a comfortable victory in the colours of Mr Anthony Norman on his second start in handicap company off a mark of 97 over two miles, three furlongs at Taunton on Thursday.
He is beautifully bred by the champion sire Walk in the Park and a half brother to four winners including Special Tiara who won the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Luck hasn’t always been on the side of Oakley’s Way in his brief career. He fell in a bumper at Taunton on the final bend when clipping heels while making headway and was still in contention when blundering badly at the last flight at Exeter earlier this month.
He jumped well when it mattered on Thursday and now that he is off the mark I’m hopeful that he can start to progress.
He enjoys goodish ground and a flat track and will be out again in three or four weeks again in a slightly higher grade.
